Huge thanks to artist Margaret Blanchard of Montpelier for her generous donation of this piece! Margaret writes, "I created Earth Burning after the Gulf Oil Spill disaster.  It shows the Earth (Gaia) holding up her hand to say 'Stop!  You're killing me.'  With COVID-19, it feels that individual human bodies, burning up around the globe with fever, are resonating with our planetary body.  To paraphrase James Baldwin, it's 'the fire this time' which sounds the alarm.  As Baldwin would recognize, the humans suffering most from both climate disasters and the pandemic are peoples of color."

Donations of $100 or more will be entered into a raffle to win the piece, with one ticket per $100 donation. (Donations of $100 - $199 = 1 raffle ticket, donations of $200 - $299 = 2 tickets, etc.) Ten percent of all donations entered into the raffle will go to The Root Social Justice Center to support their statewide racial justice organizing.

All donations of $100 or more received by Wednesday, July 15 at noon, through this page or by check, will be entered into a drawing for Earth Burning. We'll contact the winner directly and also announce the results here!
