MOTHER UP! DAY AT THE STATE HOUSE FEBRUARY 15
There will be an upcoming Mother Up! “climate action” day at the State House on Thursday, February 15th. This is an opportunity for parents and families throughout Vermont to come together to let state legislators know that not only is climate change a top priority, but also that now is the time to lead the way with bold climate solutions. The day includes an 11 am meeting with Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman, a 12 pm presentation to the Climate Solutions Caucus, and being recognized on the House floor at 1 pm. All are welcome to join.
Mother Up!: Families Rise Up for Climate Action is a project of 350Vermont that engages parents to take action in both their own communities and those most affected by the fossil fuel industry. Parents are powerful voices in fighting for the health and safety of our collective future. Mother Up! builds community resilience by creating connections between families, by growing a strong community of parents dedicated to climate action, and by fostering the next generation of activists.
Monthly meet-ups in Brattleboro, Montpelier, and Burlington bring families together for open discussion of stories and concerns about the climate, for planning and organizing meaningful actions, and for learning opportunities about the underpinnings of the climate crisis. Every meet-up includes childcare and a homemade vegetarian meal, as well as tips for self-care to prevent activist burnout. By creating family-friendly organizing spaces for parents and children to share stories with one another and to find ways to take action, Mother Up! helps to grow a stronger and more diverse community of climate activists.
