Ban Fossil Fuel Infrastructure

We, the undersigned, call on all Vermont state legislators and the Governor of Vermont to pass a statewide ban on any new fossil fuel infrastructure* within the State of Vermont (currently bill H.746).

A ban on fossil fuel infrastructure would:

1. Reduce the State's consumption of fossil fuels and resulting greenhouse gases;

2. Avoid direct impacts to land, water, and wildlife during construction;

3. Minimize cost risks to utilities and consumers as the greater economy transitions from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

*Fossil fuel infrastructure includes transmission pipelines, fossil-fuel-powered electricity generation, large-scale fossil fuel storage facilities.
